Now I know why I dislike computers!
Tried to print off my assignment earlier and all it printed was boxes! No words, not a single one. My computer and printer are now ganging up on me and I've spoken nicely to both of them for days, if not months. Spent all evening trying to solve the problem and it just got worse! Now all my pages are blank, not a single word left on any of them. I had to uninstal all the microsoft programmes and reinstal them but now I have to write everything up again as my hard drive appears to be infected with the same virus. Looks like I'm going to get no sleep for the next three nights :-( The only things on my side are that all the other programmes I've used and saved are not affected so I don't have to redo all of it.
Can't bear to look at the screen for any longer so I'm going to go off to bed and try to crack on tomorrow and just keep going. One thing I have learnt is that I really need to attend an indepth computer course. If anyone knows of one starting please let me know.
Nite nite everyone catch you Thursday. (if I'm still alive!)

Gettin' There! (slowly)
Although my assignment is done I am still learning when it comes to ICT.
I have learnt that when you save a file it matters which format you save it in. This I learnt from experience after screaming at my computer because I couldn't find the recordings I needed to put on my photostory only to have my son laugh at me because I'd saved them as movies instead of recordings. Needless to say he had great pleasure in showing me how to transfer them to the correct format.
The children have had a wonderful time making their photostories in school and these are going to be ongoing as they are adding to them every session. The aim is for them to have an individual record of what they have done during our sessions for the whole year. (I have just learnt how to burn these off onto a disc so I'm rather pleased with myself.)
The children have also been making 'Feelings Books' using 2Create. This they have loved doing and their books are nowbecoing quite large. I would love for you to share this but I still can't work out how to upload it. When I solve it I will show you.
Now on to the numeracy assignment. No rest for the wicked eh?

Brain Explosion!
I've have spent the last week in work trying to work out how to make a recording on a microphone, transfer this to the computer, then take this whole recording and cut the bits I want to use to add to a photostory the children are making. I finally worked out how to use Movie Maker to cut the recording into the sections the children wanted. The only problem was the file would only save as a movie! This I was totally unable to transfer to the Photo Story project as it needed to be an audio file.
After many break times and lunch times spent screaming at the computer I copied all the relevant information onto my hard drive and brought it home.
I then spent many hours over the weekend trying again to solve this problem.
Just over an hour ago I decided to be brave enough to try again even though my brain is in total meltdown. While I was beginning my screaming match with my laptop my son came over to sit and laugh at me - as is his normal behaviour while I'm developing my ICT skills! Within 2 mins he realised what I was trying to do, took the computer off me and proceeded to copy, cut, save, transfer, play and laugh with great ease. It then took him an hour to explain it all to me. (and I'm still not really sure if I get it!)
So now it's my turn to utilize this new found bunch of skills. Will let you know if I succeed.

Website Designing!
Yep, me, website designing! I know I'm still in shock.
Our school has had a wonderful website for a couple of years now, most of that due to the fact I have nothing to do with it. Now it has become part of my responsibility to upload pictures, information and an ongoing 'diary' of things we get up to. I nearly died when I was asked but I decided I would have a go with the view of winning. It has taken me many long hours and a few headaches, but I'm beginning to get the hang of it. I have copious notes and I've needed to do the same thing quite a few times but I'm getting there.
Next job....teach the children! (or take over the world!!!!).
Now I'm all worn out, another cup of tea and a packet of biscuits is due I think.
See you all tomorrow.

Oh Dear! :-(
I really am not getting the hang of this Blogging business! I spent a good couple of hours the other night trying to add pictures or something interesting to my blogg and I just couldn't work it out. My 2 lads at home spent the whole time laughing at me!
I think I should have been born about 100 years ago then I wouldn't have to know how to do all this.
Although, today in school, I was working with a child in year 5&6 and the children were using a programme called Zipster to make an animation out of clay and their own made setting. The programme takes 3-5 pictures in rapid sucession then the children have to reposition their chracters etc. and they take another set of images. After they feel they have taken enough picturs and their characters have compleated their story the children can play back the aminmation. The children were extreemly inventive and produced a huge varioty of animations that were enjoyed by the whole school. I learnt so much from the children I was quite impressed with myself.
I'm going to have another go at adding pictures and I hope I'll improve my ability and understanding over the next few weeks.

My first attempt at animation!
As you can see I'm a budding artist. This is supposed to be a 'Catch phrase', I'll be well impressed if you can work it out with my lovely drawings. Just pretend I'm only 5, it may help.

Back to Reality!
Well here we are all back in college.
Wonder what we're going to do this evening? Think it's something to do with photo's and stuff. Probably get just as confused as usual!
Spent the last few days trying to instal Textease onto my personal computer and it just won't have it! I'm really becoming convinced that it's out to get me, and after I stood by it through all it's illnesses. Just can't please some can you?
I have tried to instal some photo's on here but I just can't seem to work that out either. My boys just laugh at me rather than trying to help. Can anyone sugest a good book that'll help? I'm going to get something done on this daft thing if it kills me, and I think it might!
If I survive I will let you know.
