Back to Reality!

Ok, here goes, life must return to some kind of normality after the Christmas holidays I guess.

Must admit I've not been able to get the hang of this but I've not had the chance as my computer is out to get me. It has just returned from open heart surgery. This time for allowing a Trojan horse to infiltrate it's guts. No sympathy here. I've given it all the protection a little lap top could ever ask for but no it won't listen.

It has now had 3 major operations in the last month and a half. The first was the most scary, and the most expensive. Red messages telling me someone was accessing my password and credit card details! It began preventing me from accessing any of my programmes telling me it was too dangerous and it began shutting down everything just because it felt like it! A real bad case of worms. Makes you want to gag at the thought. Those worms were able to crawl throughout my computer's insides, everywhere became infected, even the task manager didn't come out clean. The sweet little man in the computer shop tried to explain to me the manner of my infection, but I had no idea what he was talking about and chose to try to nod and smile in all the right places. (don't think I managed it because after 5 mins he began to speak to me very slowly and in words of single syllables!).

I think he tried to run away when he saw me approaching for the 2nd time. This wasn't so bad, only a week in intensive care and £67.50 later. Some strange virus apparently. Again he began to explain but realised very quickly he may as well give up this time and ask me how my Christmas went instead.

The third time I walked into his shop he very quickly picked up the phone and I'm sure he was pretending to talk to some-one while some young lad tried to understand what I was saying to him. Another £75, and a complete clean out and restore of relevant data, (minus worms, Trojan horses, virus and any other unwanted bug of any kind), also the loss of all my I.T. assignment notes and Microsoft programmes, I can now use my computer again. Do I want to is now my question?

I'm going to try and learn more about this little box of tricks and I'm determined to at least be able to use it more than my 65 year old mother!

See you all in college and I hope your time off was wonderful.
